EA-AI 2025 – Ethics and Aesthetics of Artificial Images

From 8th to 10th May 2025, the Iuav University of Venice will host the international conference “Ethics and Aesthetics of Artificial Images,” an event dedicated to examining the ethical and aesthetic implications of images generated by artificial intelligence.

This initiative, designed as an interdisciplinary platform, explores broad and cross-cutting themes with the goal of fostering dialogue between theory and practice. It also lays the groundwork for follow-up events that will focus on the specific impact of generative artificial intelligence in the context of drawing theories and practices.

Objectives of the Conference

The conference aims to address key questions essential for understanding the evolution of images in the digital era:

  • What defines an AI-generated image?
  • How are these images interpreted and perceived?
  • How are concepts of authorship and ownership evolving in the age of artificial intelligence?
  • What transformations are occurring in our understanding of creativity?
  • What is the relationship between AI-generated images and the work of artists and designers?
  • What connections exist between ethical concerns and the aesthetic discourse surrounding AI-generated images?
  • What are the social challenges and collective impacts of AI-generated visual content?
